What is implantology?
Implantology is a discipline in dentistry dedicated to rehabilitate lost teeth using dental implants.
What is an implant?
A dental implant is an artificial root resembling a screw. It is made out of titanium which makes the integration of this artificial root possible into the human jaw bone. The dental implant is placed under local anaesthesia in the area where a tooth has been lost. When the implant is connected to the surrounding bone structures (after a couple of weeks (2-3 months)) the adequate restoration can be performed.
The Straumann Dental Implant System is one of the best documented and most successful implant system in the world. The wide variety of their products which have all been tested in clinical studies, have excellent characteristics at both soft tissue level and bone level.
The system is predictable, has been well documented in the scientific literature, is efficient and responds to the high aesthetic demands of our patients.
